Balmoth (LE)

The Kingmaker

Balmoth was the second oldest of the three brothers of creation; the oldest still living. Balmoth, god of Power & Hierarchy, sees himself as the rightful king of the Gods, having proved his superior strength when he supposedly killed Zol and cast his body from the heavens. He believes that the strong should rightfully govern the weak, who in turn owe their masters unwavering obedience. Any who wish to rule, or who are dedicated to serve may worship Balmoth.

Relations:

-Disliked by most of the Gods for claiming to kill Zol, (prev King of the Gods), and bullying diplomacy.

-Works well with Polis and Messara

-Can sometimes convince Kemi & Medos to agree with his side

-Gazeck obeys him (Mostly)

-Feyja (Zols wife) regularly opposes him

--Has a respectful relationship with his brother Hadurin

Scripture: The Right of Crowns

Reads like a long contract, outlining the rights and responsibilities of rulers and servants. It then follows with rituals and prayers that must be made to Balmoth as King above all others, and ways to identify those you must obey and those whom you must command.

Those who wish to become Hellknights must first sign The Contract of Souls, a document werin the signer binds his soul to Balmoth, agreeing to obey his commands, and join as a soldier in his afterlife. In exchange the person is granted Armour and powers from beyond the mortal realm. Part of the contract has the signers renounce all former allegiances, as such the Hellknights operate outside the instruction of mortal kings.

Heralds:

Devils are the servants of Balmoth and were the first to teach the ways of the Hellknight. They bring about order by any means, and are known to speak with Balmoths authority.

Curse/Blessings:

-Opportunitys to increase ones status and influence is a sure sign of Balmoths blessing. An invitation to an important meeting, or a favorable wedding proposal.

-If one fails to stay in Balmoths good graces will find thier truest friends betray them. Betrayal is the mark of his displeasure

Obedience

While prostrating at the foot of a fire, recite from memory the contract of allegiance, re-devoting yourself to Balmoth. Once completed use a ceremonial knife to shed some of your own blood to boil upon the fire (how much blood is up to you), Leave the fire to burn itself out. If the fire is put out before you've finished reciting your allegiance or shedding your blood. You must start over from the beginning. Reciting the contract normally takes about 15 minutes. Gain a +4 Will save Bonus against mind-affecting effects.

Evangelist

1: Punisher of the Damned

Barbed Chains 3/day

Arrow of Law 2/day

Vision of Hell 1/day

2: Hell's Imperative: Once per day, you can command a creature to carry out some particular task or service. This spell-like ability acts as geas/quest, except it has a casting time of 1 minute.

3: Bow Before The King: You represent one of the most powerful deities in the cosmos, and you expect all creatures to recognize the unspeakable power you herald. Once per day as a standard action, you can create an effect similar to overwhelming presence as though you were a cleric with an effective caster level equal to half your Hit Dice. Creatures that fail their saving throws are staggered instead of helpless for the duration of the spell, and suffer no further effects upon a successful subsequent save.

Exalted

1: Infernal Authority

Command 3/day

Shackle 2/day

Deeper Darkness 1/day

2: Commanding Strike: Once per day, you can channel the effects of Order's Wrath through your weapon. You must declare your use of this ability before you roll your attack. On a hit, the target is affected as if targeted with Order's Wrath

3: Immortal Pact: Once per day as a standard action, you can summon a Contract Devil. The Contract Devil follows your commands perfectly for 1 minute for every Hit Die you possess before vanishing back to its home in Hades. The Contract Devil doesn’t follow commands that would violate its alignment, or any contracts it already has in effect and particularly egregious commands could cause it to attack you.

Sentinel

1: Truth Finder

Protection from Chaos 3/day

Suppress Charms and Compulsions 2/day

Seek Thoughts 1/day

2: Hell's Authority: You know that your infernal devotion to and sacrifices for Balmoth have earned you a place at the side of the greatest fiends of Hell. Once per day as a standard action, you can declare your infernal authority to inspire shock and awe in your enemies. Creatures within 30 feet that hear and oppose you must each attempt a Will saving throw (DC = 10 + half your Hit Dice + your Wisdom modifier) or be stunned for 1 round and then shaken for a number of rounds equal to your Hit Dice while contemplating your unholy power. Creatures that succeed at their saving throws are instead shaken for 1d4 rounds. This is a mind-affecting fear effect.

3:Hellfire Strike: Once per day, you can channel the effects of Hellfire Ray through your weapon, though you don’t need to cast (or even know) the spell. You must declare your use of this ability before you roll your attack. On a hit, the creature is affected as if hit by Hellfire Ray. If your level is appropriate to have multiple rays from this spell all rays affect the target of this successful attack. If you miss with your attack, the Hellfire Strike ability is wasted.
